It's about time someone stood up for Chavez in the mainstream media, it makes a change from the usual one-sided reporting. There's a similar article on the New Statesman website today - http://www.newstatesman.com/200711210001

I would like to take issue with the term "mainstream media". There is nothing mainstream about it and the use of the term implies that all other media is suspect

It is the "corporate commercial media". It is owned by corporations and its purpose to promote global transnational agenda and perception management.

Getting people to call it the mainstream media is a handy piece of perception management and should be stopped
